Why 2 Mil Matters
Standard packaging tape is typically 1.6–1.8 mil — adequate for lightweight cartons but prone to splitting under load, in cold storage, or on rough corrugated surfaces. At 2 mil, this tape provides measurably better tensile strength and puncture resistance. Acrylic vs Hot-Melt Adhesive
Acrylic adhesive outperforms hot-melt in temperature-variable environments. Hot-melt tape softens in warm trailers and loses tack in cold storage — acrylic maintains a consistent bond across a wide temperature range. For operations that ship product in summer heat or store in refrigerated environments, acrylic tape is the correct specification. Hot-melt tape is suitable only for climate-controlled, ambient-temperature operations.
